Golden Retrievers are a sporting class dog with an average size of 55-75 LBS and an average lifespan of 10-12 years. They have a cream to dark golden medium length coat that benefits from daily brushing. Golden's shed in moderate amounts, with the change of season bringing a notable increase in hair loss. Having a good anti-shedding brush/product on hand is a great way to keep both yourself and your pet happy. 
Golden Retrievers are calm, outgoing, smart, and very trainable. They have an overwhelming need to please their masters and will go to great lengths to fill its role within its family. They are regal in appearance with their graceful gait and elegant feathered coat, while at the same time humble in attitude as they greet each new person as a long lost friend and show unending loyalty to their family.

     Golden retrievers are moderately active and require regular exercise every day, they benefit greatly from a daily walk and a brisk game of "get the ball". One more great traits of the Golden is its "on-off" switch. While they are eager to work and play, at the end of the day when it is time to read a book or watch some TV, they will curl up at your feet and and quietly wait. The golden is so friendly in nature that he is not the best choice for guard dog, but he will sound the alarm if danger or stranger approaches.
